Wellingborough 29  v  Bugbrooke 10

In front of a crowd boosted by a group from Sposors LMR Ltd, Boro picked up two more league points with an uninspiring performance against a Bugbrooke outfit who put up dogged resistance throughout the game.  Boro missed the opportunity to improve their points difference tally by a substantial amount against the bottom side.

Coach Andy Holloway opened the scoring after ten minutes following a break and outrageous dummy from prop Paul Campbell, Pete Vickers being wide with the conversion attempt. Bugbrooke drew level when Boro conceded another try from a lineout catch and drive move before Vickers restored their lead going into half time when he charged down a clearance kick which he regathered before touching down to leave himself with an easy conversion.

With the slope in Boros favour in the second half they were now running the ball at will and with full back Chris Mears coming more into the game it was no surprise when they increased their lead.  Mears broke from his own half before passing to centre Tom Andrews who had come on for the injured Steven Gall and from five metres out he was unstoppable.  With Vickers adding the conversion Boro were now moving clear.  Two more tries were to follow, one of which was converted.  They both came from good lineout ball before releasing the backs to run in the tries. The first came from winger Karl McAndrew and the second from Vickers.

Sadly Boro conceded one more try from an identical lineout catch and drive move to the one in the first half to underline that this is where most points are being lost reducing the points difference total.

LMR Ltd. Man of the Match: Chris Mears
