4th XV Report - Sat 17th Feb 2007 v Peterborough Lions Print E-mail

Wellingborough 36  v  Peterborough Lions 34

This was the come back match of the season after Boro found themselves trailing by 34 points with only half an hour left.  Defending the slope and against the wind in the first half Boro could find no way out and Lions scored at will.

However with the elements in their favour in the second half it proved to be a different proposition. George Shipman (snr) playing a rare game and Mark Croxen with two tries each got Boro back into the game and there were two further tries from Stuart Gannon and Martin Plowman.  Plowman added one conversion and with Neil Thomson adding two more it was just enough to overcome the opposition.  Boro had one more try disallowed as the referee was unable to keep up with play at this stage so missed a clear grounding of the ball.
