Leighton Buzzard 23  v  Wellingborough 13

Boro's promotion hopes nosedived with this defeat away to Buzzard who regained the top spot in the league.  Playing up the slope in the first half  Boro were having most of the play although they went behind to a penalty awarded for not releasing.  Boro continued to press forward although they were unable to score any tries thus failing to convert their pressure into points.  It was only from the boot of Pete Vickers that they gained points with two successfull penalty kicks, and they held this lead until half time.

With the hard work done and the slope now in their favour Boro had every chance to take control, however they could not step up the gears and allowed Buzzard to work their way up the slope into scoring positions. Buzzard were also finding gaps in the Boro defence and they scored two converted tries and two penalties in a one sided second half.  Full back Karl McAndrew was one of the few players to shine and saved Boro from going further behind with several try saving tackles.

Boro's game continued to deteriorate, beaten in the lineout, scrummage, loose play and also having the ball turned over on numerous occasions it was crying out for substitutions. These were duly made but a little late to make any difference.  Their only reward in the second half came in the last five minutes when Keir Davidson crashed over after a determined run to leave Vickers with an easy conversion.  Boro then conceded a penalty from the restart to sum up a very disappointing afternoon.
