Old Scouts 18 - 22  Wellingborough

Boros new found grit and determination took them to a well earned win away to Old Scouts.  Shorn of many first choice players through injury and retirement Boros back up squad proved they are more than capable of filling their shoes.

Setting off at a pace Borospurned two golden try scoring chances in the first ten minutes when the final pass was knocked on, on both occasions.   They finally took the lead soon afterwards when skipper Pete Vickers burst through a gap and outpaced the covering defence Although he missed the conversion he was successfull shortly afterwards with a penalty.  Trying to play their normal attacking game Boro were soon rewarded with another try following a scrummage.  Winger Joe Marsdon joined  the line creating an overlap that allowed Dom Smart to touch down Vickers increased the lead with the conversion.  This completed Boros scoring in the first half but Scouts pulled back three points from a penalty and following several warnings the referee also sent flanker Chris Shipman to the sin bin.

Scouts were fired up at the restart and reduced the arrears with two unconverted tries while Boro were a man short .  Boro scored their final try through full back Rob Armstrong after a threequarter move that started in their own half Vickers converted and they pulled clear again.  Scouts scored one more try but with their kicker having an off day the lack of conversions was to prove decisive.  Boro were under pressure in the last five minutes but their defence held firm for a win that keeps the pressure on league leaders Leighton Buzzard and the return game between the two sides is eagerly awaited.
