Wellingborough 33 - 18 Towcestrians

Wellingborough entered this home fixture determined to step up their performance from previous weeks.  In front of a good crowd they set off at a cracking pace scoring in the first few minutes through Colt Joe Marston.  Towcestrians came back with a try of their own.  Soon after that they scored another one to put them in front and it looked like they were going to spoil Wellingborough's party.  However Kyle Danns got on the score sheet for the home side to bring them back into it and he scored again from a series of rucks, stretching a long arm out over the line when stopped short.  An exchange of penalties then saw the score reach 18 each where it remained at Half Time.

The home side were still not getting the upper hand but with the wind in their favour it was only a matter of time as they were gaining the territorial advantage.  Scoring was hard to come by though as the Towcestrians' defence held firm but eventually the deadlock was broken with a penalty from Peter Vickers.  There was still nothing between the sides for a long time. Both brought on replacements in the last quarter and it was soon after this that the home backs finally broke through the Towcestrians' defence and Dominic Smart rounded his man to score in the corner.  Wellingborough held onto this lead making sure that Towcestrians had to play out of their own half.  The icing on the cake was supplied by Tom Meyer who had come on as a replacement in the centre, when he took an inside pass from Peter Vickers and stepped his way to score under the posts.  Pete then gratefully kicked the conversion to take the home side clear at 33 - 18.
