Ripley Rhinos 13 - 43 Wellingborough
Following some disappointing recent results Wellingborough Ladies got back to winning ways with a 43-13 victory away at Ripley Ladies.
Both sets of forwards were evenly matched in scrummage and lineout but Wellingborough's more mobile pack had the advantage at the breakdown and in the loose. Their ability to recycle quick ball allowed the pacey Wellingborough backs to exploit the space created and eventually run in 8 tries.
With several new girls playing it was a tremendous team event to blend so quickly, a special mention must go to Derrie Merrington who in her first season has been outstanding, her efforts carrying the ball into contact led to quick ball every time until she was forced off with an injury after 25 minutes. Debbie Dexter then proceeded to produce her best performance of the season with some excellent work in the loose and in the lineout.
The forwards and backs put together their best dispalys as units since the early part of the season and were linked well from scrum-half and this allowed the backs to exploit their superior pace. Tries came from Emily Underwood (3), Theresa Boden-Jones (1), Emma Swann (1) and Rachel Jones (1), Emma Swann also added 4 conversion.
