At the Northamptonshire Sports Awards 2010, held at the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club on Thursday 4th November the Club was awarded the Community Club of the Year award.

This is a prestigious award.  Nominations in different categories included the likes of Daniel Keatings (Olympic gymnast) and Chris Ashton (Guinness Premiership Player of the year).

The category of Community Club of the Year is the second highest award after sports personality.  Nominations were eliminated at each district level and no other Rugby Union Club got through!

The club was entered based on our RFU Whole Club Seal of Approval status (one of the first in the UK to achieve this), our Mini-Junior membership having gone from 178 (08/09 season) to 242 (09/10 season), our coaching staff development and skill level (including numbers of coaching staff), our achievements from U7s through to U16s including this year’s already superb efforts in competitions, the Ladies development (including links with the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service), our development of girls rugby when many clubs are having to disband it through lack of attendance, our work with schools partnerships and much more.

The final nominations included:
Kettering Premier Judo Club
Northampton Rugby League Club
Wellingborough Rugby Football club
Foilit Netball Club
Daventry Basketball Club

Within their fields these are seen as the leading examples of the development of club sports in Northamptonshire.

A great achievement and congratulations to all.
