The following is a guideline for Captains and Vice Captains:
Training
-
The First and Second XV Captains should attend as many training sessions as possible, each should render apologies to the Club Cloach if they are unable to attend prior to the session. It is recognised that it is not as important for the Third XV Captain to attend training regularly however, encouragement to younger members of the Third XV to train should be forthcmoing from the Captain – including attendance at training if an example is required to be set.
Selection
- Selection will be held at 9:00pm on Tuesday evenings. The Selection Committee comprises of all team Captains and the Club Coach. Each Captain should attend every meeting of the Selection committee and should arrange for representation if they are unavailable.
- Teams will be selcted in ascending order from the First XV. Each Captain is to ensure that all players declaring themselves available are considered for selection.
- Captains are to ensure that they are aware of the availability of players who have played for them by questionning all players following a fixture whilst collecting match fees. If a player is returning from injury, holiday or any other reason for missing a fixture, it is their responsibility to ensure that the Selection Committee is aware of their availabilty, not the Captains.
-
If a player is “dropped”, he will be informed by the team Captain from which he has been dropped and informed of the reason why. All other players will be informed of their selection by their team Captain on Wednesday evening/Thursday morning.
