Banbury Colts visited Cut Throat Lane for the first time in many years for a league fixture and started brightly as 2 converted tries saw them into a 14-0 lead before Dom Meylan Stevenson crashed over and Ben Plowman converted to peg it back to 14-7. Banbury then scored twice more, one where the prop managed to intercept a pass between 10 and 12 apparently starting from an onside position.....(ahem) to lead 28-7 before a solo effort from Ben Plowman made the half time score 28-12.
Josh Anderson scored twice in the second half either side of another Banbury effort to leave the final score at 33-22. The boys had to dig deep today with only 15 available, 5 lads out of position, two making seasonal debuts meant that they really had to work together. There were some excellent displays notably from Harry Gayton, Dom Meylan-Stevenson, Ellys Finch, George Crisp, Lewis Seabrook, Josh Anderson and Asha Roudette. The MuMu man of the match however was between Captain and Vice Captain as they led from the front, Ben Plowman and Billy Hyman were simply fantastic and in the end were separated by the Banbury coach who chose Ben. Men you were excellent, today was what rugby is about, thank you!
