Great but frustrating game for our Wellingborough girls today. Wellingborough quickly made their mark on the match with a try from Jodie Mallard, who also converted her own try. Worcester stepped up and and took their opportunity of a quick tap penalty resulting in in a converted try before our girls even realised the penalty had been blown. This gave them the confidence to go for it, and quickly ran the pitch for another try. After a lot of hard work and a few penalties given away on Worcesters try line, Jodie fought the ball over the line for another try which she she also converted. But Worcester saw this this as a challenge and put in another 2 tries which were converted. Jodie followed with her hatrick and again a great conversion. Worcester sneak another converted try in just before half time making the score 21-33 to Worcester.
second half shows off Wellingboroughs fitness as they power on and through Worcester tiring girls. Great try from Emily Mallard.
Taking no chance the girls keep battling on and tackling hard. With a lot of our players playing out of position and finding the strength of the Worcester girls hard work we were proud to watch Emily run in another try. Jodie Mallard converted taking us to a draw with only 2 minutes to go. The girls all pulled together and gave it everything they had and performed some great team work, the ball got distributed out to the wing where Charlotte Denny caught the ball at speed and just ran, dodging and weaving and BOOM, The winning try was scored.
All players fought hard today but our player of the match goes Rachel Durman
Final score 38-33
